Jaakumo Privacy Policy
Put simply, I'm one person, I do not sell your data, and I don't make any money off my servers that isn't provided by you directly via subscription/donation.
Here's a list of details to tell you what I'm all about:
- Data is only collected through account creation. Browsing the website doesn't collect anything.
- You give personal data to me when you create your account. What data you give is up to you, I'm not here to tell you what to do.
- End-to-end encryption is available, but drive storage encryption is not. This means that, as the server admin, all of your data is visible to me. This tough decision was made because, in the event something goes wrong, it makes it WAY more likely I'll be able to recover your stuff. I don't have time to waste spying on or judging you, so don't worry about it.
- Your data is protected by ClamAV, a locally-hosted antivirus server.
- I use a service called CrashPlan to provide off-site cloud backups of my cloud. Whatever they say about the data they handle applies here. But I wouldn't use them if I didn't trust them. After all, they're handling my data too.
- If you want your data deleted, just delete your account. I don't store stuff I don't have to. That'd be a waste of drive space. Deleted data will be permanently irrecoverable after 30 days.
- Your data is as secure as I'm reasonably able to provide, but I can't provide what I don't know how to do. For details, see the security and privacy sections in the Jaakumo settings.
- All your data is stored on a server I built and manage myself in my home in the United States. There is no "developer team." I am the only admin.
- I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, especially people who are unkind or unreasonable. This is my server, and I would absolutely choose my peace of mind over your money.
- To keep things simple, please don't give me any of your personal data if you are under age 18. I don't want that kind of legal mess in my life.
